How to use the laminator

Lamination is the process of coating paper files and documents with plastic protective film. After this procedure, the document will not tear or get wet from accidentally spilled liquid. A few years ago, laminators were rare. They were popular only in print shops or large companies. Currently on sale you can find laminators of simple designs. Therefore, you have to use the equipment even in a home environment.

In this article we will tell you in detail how to use the laminator.

Preparation of the laminator for work

To work, you must make sure that the device is ready for the process.

How to charge the laminator

If your model of the laminator is running on a battery, it is important to charge it before laminating. To do this follows connect the power cable first to the equipment and only then to the power outlet.

The charging indicator is indicated by a lit indicator LED.

Reference! According to the standard, the indicator lights up in red during charging, and when charging is complete, its color changes to green.

There may be another indication, therefore, for clarification, we recommend that you look at this information in the user manual.

How to turn on the equipment and prepare the device for work

Before inserting paper into the product, it is necessary to check the presence of film in a special compartment. It usually opens after moving the latch on the case. If you cannot open the compartment, then most likely the device has not cooled down yet. Therefore, the latch is locked by the device for your safety.

Attention! We strongly recommend that you use the original device from the kit to charge. If you use another cable for charging, the battery may fail after a while.

Before lamination, you must press the power button and wait a few minutes. Some models provide an indication that notifies the owner that the device has warmed up and is ready for use.

How to laminate properly

  • Load the required amount of laminating film into the equipment.

Advice! If you do not know the exact length of the film for loading, then this information can be clarified in the instruction manual (it comes with the device).

  • Turn on the appliance and wait a few minutes for it to warm up. If your device operates in automatic mode, then you need to wait until the corresponding LED lights up.
  • Cut the sheet to the required size. Be sure to do this operation before lamination..

Important! After lamination, cutting paper is highly discouraged, because the paper layer will be open. This layer may break or get wet, and then lamination will not perform its function.

  • Insert the paper into the lamination slot, then push it a bit so that the machine can accept the paper on its own. Then rotate the feed switch. Now the lamination process will begin.
  • Be sure to wait until the process ends.! In no case do not interrupt the feed in the middle of the sheet! This is fraught with damage to the lamination object.
  • When you see that the second edge of the document has come out, you can turn off the feed and the heating function on the device. Now you can cut the laminator film with scissors or a clerical knife.
  • Next, cut the film along the edges of the element that you laminated. Be sure to step back from him by 3-4 millimeters. In this case, the paper will definitely be protected from moisture and dust.

Important! The device should be stored in such a way as to exclude the possibility of access for children, as it belongs to the group of fire hazard.

Additional recommendations

  • If you have recently purchased equipment for lamination, then It’s very important to practice. You need to train on paper scraps or unnecessary documents. If you use securities, they can be damaged.
  • After laminating a document, do not immediately pick it upbecause you can get burned. In order for the laminating layer to cool, 2-3 minutes will be enough.
  • You can laminate several small documents at the same time. But only between them it is important to leave a distance of 1 cm. In this case, the plastic layer solders well between the elements, and they will also be well protected.
  • If you need to laminate a lot of documents, you should do this intermittently, since overheating is dangerous for this equipment.
