How to flash TV

TV is one of those types of household appliances that is present in the home of almost every person today. This is understandable, before TVs were a luxury, and after many years their presence, by definition, became a sign of the solvency of a single person and his family. But if earlier the cost of televisions was not inferior to several monthly salaries of a factory worker, today it is one of the most affordable categories of household appliances, taking fourth place after a microwave, electric kettle and coffee maker.

Of course, after decades, TVs have become more functional and some of them have software that will not be inferior in technical characteristics to that found in personal computers and laptops of the sixth generation. They can be connected to the Internet, satellite, analog, digital, cable television and can be used as projectors, with additional compact specialized equipment.

Modern TVs - versatility and convenience versus control complexity

Approximately every second modern LCD TV has the ability to install various applications, including those that are responsible for visiting social networks and gaming activities. Moreover, almost 95% of new TV models have already become classics, the function of connecting to a personal and laptop computer (netbook, laptop).

Although this is convenient, it nevertheless complicates to some extent the process tied to their management even for young people born in the era of the “information boom”. For this reason, many do not know how to flash the TV without connecting additional devices.

REFERENCE. To date, more than 100,000 people are looking for information on the firmware of a particular model of LCD TV on the Internet every month.

How to flash a TV from a flash drive

Firmware today is a rather pressing problem, since most of the problems in modern TVs are connected with the gradual aging of "software". There are frequent cases when the latter flies due to a number of problems, the cause of which in more cases should be considered:

  • A sharp power outage or pulling the "plug" of the LCD panel from the outlet without first disconnecting it.
  • Incorrect use of the available interface and uncontrolled "setup" of little-known settings by the user.
  • The burning of a video set-top box or any other equipment connected to the equipment, causing a malfunction in the program interface of the latter.

Most often, in the event of a technical problem, the LCD TV goes into standby mode, the so-called "protection mode". Without firmware, it is impossible to use it in this state to view the video.

Flashing the TV using a USB drive

To flash the TV from a USB-drive (flash drive), you will need to go to the manufacturer’s website and find the page with drivers (versions) for the desired TV model. After that, you need to download them to a computer and transfer them to a pre-prepared flash drive - the drivers weigh a little (up to 100 mb).

Some manufacturers add USB drives or drives with classic driver versions to the LCD TV. Therefore, look, you may not even have to download this software from the site.

  • After the drivers have been transferred to the flash drive, you need to insert it into the USB hole and turn it off / on. This must be done for prevention.
  • Next, go to the “settings” and in the “firmware” menu, “update” - in each model it is called differently, and select “update LCD TV via USB” or simply “Update”.
  • We expect a few minutes, so if before the firmware update and only after that we turn it off / on again. It will be necessary to update the "list of programs" - they get lost in 50-60% of cases when the firmware is flown.

Some models of LCD TVs have a built-in feature for automatic software flashing. Most often it is on, but in some cases it is disabled.

To check the information on the availability of automatic firmware, just go to the settings and go to the "Updates" tab. If the checkbox is checked, it means that it is turned on and to carry it out, you need to connect the TV to the Internet connection via wire or Wi-Fi. How to flash a TV on the machine with confirmation of the update steps? If the TV is connected to Wi-Fi and you have automatic firmware enabled, then its updates will be carried out at the time of appearance or after a few days if you have not confirmed their implementation.

Any firmware update is carried out exclusively after the confirmation of these manipulations by the user. Most often, a message will appear on the screen at the time of watching the TV show, notifying you of the need to conduct a scheduled software update.

There is a situation when the firmware is “broken” - this happens both with online and offline versions that have been downloaded to a USB drive and are not installed offline. A flash drive can also cause a "spoilage" of the firmware, therefore, it is impossible to detect an ignorant user of the exact problem, for which the firmware did not work as it should. The only way to return everything to its original "channel" is to restore the previous version of the firmware from the internal "backup" (internal memory). You must understand that this method does not work in situations where the previous version or firmware has flown. A similar problem is solved by installing the firmware of the old or new version.

To restore the firmware, you will need to go to the settings or turn on the equipment in "technical mode" (see the instructions for more details) and then select "restore the previous version". As you can see, it’s quite possible to reflash the equipment if it does not turn on. Re-flashing will take a bit of your time.
