What are juicers

The modern assortment of types of juicers for fruits and vegetables can amaze even the fastidious consumer. But, unfortunately, most users are aware of the existence of only two types of devices for making juices: screw and centrifugal. But the devices are an order of magnitude larger; they differ in functionality and operating principle.

And, knowing about the features of each device, you can choose the optimal model, which is why we decided to pay special attention to this issue in today's article.

Types of juicers by their device

What are juicers? According to the principle of their work, they are divided into three main categories:
  • Hand held;
  • Mechanical;
  • Electric.
Tame. These juicers are powered by the physical strength of a person. They cannot be called devices with high performance, because spinning requires a lot of time. But there are a number of advantages:
  • There is no power consumption;
  • All vitamins and beneficial properties are preserved;
  • There is no noise at work;
  • Spin quality is close to the maximum mark.

Electric. The presented devices are equipped with a small engine and operate from an electric network. A person will only need to lay down products, turn on the device and enjoy a delicious drink. High power provides these devices with high speed, but:

  • They will quickly heat up, which is why frequent breaks are needed;
  • Excessive loads may break the engine;
  • Electricity will be consumed, which will require additional waste.

Mechanical. These devices produce juice through the operation of special mechanisms. But connection to the electric network is not required, which is one of the main advantages. An example of such a juicer is the device operating on the principle of a meat grinder. Fruits are twisted by means of a special spiral thanks to the efforts exerted on the lever, and the result is a delicious juice rich in vitamins and other useful substances.

Operating principle

This classification is based on the squeeze method. There are two types of devices: types of juicers, screw and centrifugal.
Centrifugal. These models have a mesh with a grater attached to it. After loading the fruit, the centrifuge starts, the fruits are ground, and thanks to the centrifugal force, the vitamin juice is separated from the cake, which will have to be thrown away after each use of the device. The characteristic features of this device are:
  • High speed;
  • Loud noise during operation;
  • Affordable cost.

Important! Due to the fact that the beverage in contact with oxygen is in the process of preparation, it must be drunk immediately after preparation. The maximum storage time without loss of useful properties is 30 minutes.

Auger. These models are both manual and electric, powered by a network. Fruit chopping is done by means of screws. The characteristic features of such models include:

  • Slow work
  • Slight noise;
  • Universality.

In addition, the prepared juice is suitable for consumption for 48 hours, and it can also be preserved for the winter.

Also, owners of screw juicers will be able to cook with their help not only vitamin drinks. Using special nozzles, you can cook minced meat, pasta or homemade sausage.

Scope of application

In this classification, three main areas can be distinguished:

  • At home;
  • Professional juicers;
  • For industrial use.
  1. Household models are the most common option. They are designed for daily use and are designed for average families from 3 to 5 people. Used to process a small number of fruits.
  2. Professional - used in catering establishments. These devices are characterized by high power and high speed. A distinctive feature is the aesthetic design and a very high price.
  3. Industrial - used for fruit processing on an industrial scale. Performance and speed are close to maximum marks.

By appointment

All juicers can be divided into categories for processing:

  • Citrus fruits;
  • Hard fruits;
  • Fruits with seeds.
  1. Citrus. These models are designed for processing tangerines, lemons, oranges, etc. They have a small capacity and compact dimensions. Juice is obtained thanks to a special knife with a ribbed surface.
  2. Solid fruits. Such devices have high power and allow you to get juice from apples, carrots, celery and similar fruits.
  3. Fruits with seeds. Special devices do not break and do not allow seeds to enter the drink.

In addition, there are universal models that cope with any kind of fruit and delight consumers with wide functionality.
