Laying art flooring

Not everyone can boast of having art parquet at home. Such a coating is recognized as elite not only due to its uniqueness and beauty, but also because of the rather complicated way of laying. A correctly selected ornament can be the perfect complement to any interior.

But in order to lay and choose such a parquet correctly, you need to understand the types of such coatings, and also study the features of each of them. You will learn about what an art floor is, how to lay it on various surfaces, and also subsequently process it, in this article.

Types and features of art flooring

Currently, experts distinguish several types of design. Let's consider them in more detail:

  1. With a heraldic sign. The most expensive option. It is usually chosen only by the most affluent people who, in addition to a large and spacious room, also have their own family sign. It is he who is executed as a picture and applied to the coating. Such a parquet will be extremely unique, but its cost and requirements for the presence of a special coat of arms are not suitable for everyone.
  2. With curved fragments. A great solution, which is a picture of dark shades on a light background. It will take time to draw up such coverage, but it will undoubtedly please you for many years.
  3. Geometric. Such a pattern is similar to a mosaic and looks very harmonious and interesting. This option is suitable for many interiors and will look appropriate in many rooms.

What distinguishes parquet from other coatings except for a complex and bright pattern? There are several features:

  1. Use for mounting a special base of several layers. That is, the parquet itself is attached to a separate layer of plywood.
  2. The use of wood of various species - this is what attracts many potential buyers. After all, everyone knows that natural wood is the best material that is not only pleasant to the senses, but also durable and beautiful.
  3. Elements are made with jewelry precision. Therefore, the process requires a long time, attention and perseverance.
  4. In many layers, the parquet is also covered on top, which makes it lacquered and deeper visually.

Parquet laying

The most common option is laying piece parquet. In this case, parts from different types of wood of various colors are used. Drawings and patterns can be very diverse: from the simplest to the more complex.

IMPORTANT! Please note that styling requires the involvement of professionals. A person who does not have special skills and tools will easily ruin the entire coverage and it will be much more difficult to correct the situation. Many companies involved in the sale, still provide their services for laying acquired flooring, which should not be ignored.

This process can be accomplished in two ways. The first provides that all disparate parts are laid on a special shield directly at the factory and sold in this form. The buyer will need to install it at home, varnish and the flooring is ready. But this method has significant drawbacks, in particular, the difficulty of choosing a suitable reservoir, as well as imperfect quality.

You can do differently and install the slats directly at home on a specially prepared surface. This is a very difficult path, which nevertheless guarantees maximum strength and aesthetics. It is up to you to decide which way to choose.

IMPORTANT! Many are interested in the species of wood, which is considered the most durable and suitable for coating. Most owners admit that it is an oak.

Laying parquet on plywood

Laying on plywood is much more reliable. Concrete and wood together can lead to cracks due to different reactions to various temperature fluctuations.

Plywood, as an intermediate layer, will soften this difference, so a huge number of deep cracks will not appear on the floor. It should be borne in mind that plywood must be as thick as the planks themselves. In most cases, moisture resistant plywood is preferred.

First, a primer is applied to the concrete, then a special mastic. And only then plywood itself, on which parquet is subsequently attached with the help of nails or glue.

IMPORTANT! Please note that it is better to choose a more expensive foreign glue. An attempt to save will lead to a poor-quality result, which will soon disappoint and require correction.

Then grinding is required with a special sanding belt. It needs to be repeated several times in different directions and with a change in grain size. Then you can begin to rub the putty into all seams. RDifferent coating materials require different putties, so you should be very careful when choosing. Now one more grinding is required.

The final step will be to coat the entire surface with beeswax or mastic.

Artistic flooring from panel parquet

Such parquet consists of two parts - the base and the front cover. And the foundation can be of two types:

  • single layer;
  • bilayer.

The most common material for this part of the coating is pine.

Logs are most often used as the basis in this type of coating - special bars of small thickness. Before laying, it is necessary to extend two cords that coincide with the axes of the lag. Now you need to arrange the first shield so that its edges coincide with the cords. It is strengthened with screws. Then the inserts begin to be glued, with the help of which the parquet becomes aesthetic and suitable for the interior of the room.

Very often, curbs are used in the design of art coverings. They give the parquet a monumentality and at the same time elegance, so if you have not yet chosen a special drawing or pattern, then it is worth taking a closer look at the possibility of using borders in it.

Finishing art flooring

Final processing is of great importance for further operation. It not only determines the appearance of the floor, but also is the key to its long use.

Modern companies provide the opportunity for a variety of processing parquet, which is right for you. For example, it can be artificial aging of a tree, which has recently gained more and more popularity due to the spread of vintage or retro style in all areas of design.

But most often it is a usual varnish. It occurs immediately after grinding, but some wood species also require a preliminary primer.

In the future, the floor should be treated regularly to update the varnish coat. It is quite possible to do this on your own, but it is important to remember that using glue on a different basis over the old one can lead to the appearance of bubbles and other irregularities. Therefore, you should be as careful as possible when choosing and further processing parquet.

Thus, laying and finishing of the art flooring takes place. Undoubtedly, this is an excellent choice of coverage, which, although it requires considerable expenses of various resources, nevertheless has many advantages.
