Herringbone flooring

Parquet is a classic floor covering. It is beautiful and has a rich color palette, texture, goes well with most stylistic decisions in the interior of the room.

In addition, the flooring is environmentally friendly material. It has excellent performance, thermal conductivity, sound insulation and is resistant to deformation. Such flooring will last for many years, beautifully complementing the interior of the room and pointing to the impeccable taste of the owners of the apartment.

Thanks to the various types of installation, you can give a unique charm to any room. We will talk about a popular method of laying parquet called a herringbone.

Preparatory stage

Parquet laying can be done in several ways. There are large prefabricated panels with a finished pattern, which are easily laid out and fixed on the base. However, there are piece dies that can be stacked in random order or use several classic installation methods.

The standard types of installation include technology:

  • classic herringbone;
  • french christmas tree.

Important! In order for the floor to please its original appearance for a long time, not creak and not deformed, it is necessary to correctly prepare the foundation before laying wooden slats.

The most common option for laying piece parquet is to use a concrete screed base and cover it with a sanded board. If the master is sure that the screed is almost even and flooded in level, thinner sheets of chipboard or plywood can be used.

Stacking

After completing the preparation for the installation process, you can proceed to the direct laying of the Christmas tree pattern from wooden dice. The main thing is to make sure that the base of the floor is dry and even.. Otherwise, the freshly laid coating will become unusable very quickly.

The classic Christmas tree is most common when using piece parquet. Such a floor looks extremely attractive and noble.

Materials and tools

To perform the work, the following tools will be required:

  • roulette;
  • kapron twine;
  • wooden block with a hammer;
  • knee pads
  • crutch for finishing dice.

Important! It is also necessary to stock up with a special adhesive or primer, on which the strips will be fixed to the base of the floor.

Completing of the work

For the pattern, choose the direction and begin to lay out the dies, retreating from the walls one and a half centimeters. First, the first two rows are laid out, which will serve as a "beacon". Nylon threads are stretched from them, so as not to stray from landmarks subsequently. Something heavy is also placed on the first stacked dies to completely eliminate their possible movement.

Rectangular dies are laid out at an angle of 90 ° to each other. The angle with the wall is 45 °. After laying all the planks, you get a pattern in the form of a "Christmas tree".

After mounting the piece strips, the material is polished. As a rule, this procedure is carried out 3-4 times. Then wooden skirting boards are nailed to the joints with the wall, and the surface is carefully varnished.

Important! During work, the room should be warm (about 15-20 ° C).

If there is no such temperature, you need to turn on the fan heater. Humidity should also be in the range of 50-60%. This is necessary so that the wooden elements subsequently laid on the floor do not deform, becoming unusable.

Laying french "Christmas tree"

There is no fundamental difference in the work of laying the classic and French Christmas trees. The difference lies in the material itself. For the French version of the pattern, not rectangular, but slightly sloping wooden dies are used. Their docking is made by the tops to each other, which allows to achieve the original herringbone pattern.

This is the main difference between these styling methods. They do not differ from each other in the resistance of the flooring to wear, the nobility of the picture, and the style of the interior. Both options will look great in almost any interior decorated in different styles. In addition, parquet with proper installation and preparation will last for many years, pleasing the eyes of the owners of the room and their guests.

Important! In building materials stores, it can be quite difficult to find the dies necessary for laying out a French Christmas tree. Their independent production from ordinary rectangular dies is a very painstaking task.

It will take a lot of time. Online stores can come to the rescue, which will bring the material you like on order.

That is why specialists in the production of interior decoration try not to complicate their own work and choose the classic version of the Christmas tree for floor decoration. It is beautiful, comfortable and takes less time.
