Why the monitor does not turn on after sleep

As a rule, game consoles practically do not cause any technical problems. They do not hang, do not give out a blue "screen of death." Personal computers are not safe from this. Sudden reboots, crashes and other troubles happen to users quite often.

Usually, when such a problem occurs, the user first of all thinks that he made some kind of mistake that led to the system unit or some part of it failing. Or there was a malfunction in the monitor or video card. The second option is quite common, but there are other reasons why the monitor does not turn on after exiting standby mode. These include the following options:

  • the video card is not connected correctly to the motherboard;
  • drivers do not work correctly;
  • there is a breakdown of the monitor or video card;
  • BIOS setup was not performed correctly;
  • The operating system firmware version is outdated
  • system files have been damaged;
  • Sleep and hibernation modes do not work.

In addition to these reasons, various malicious programs - viruses, can lead to such consequences. Some of them affect the monitor through drivers. For example, if all the incoming energy is concentrated on one point of the display, then the device may fail.

First of all, you need to check whether the wires of the device are intact and the correct connection of the video card to the motherboard. Also, the performance of the monitor can be checked by connecting it to another system unit. If none of the above makes it possible to establish the reason why the monitor does not go out of sleep, then it is necessary to forcibly turn off the system unit and restart it.

ATTENTION! When the power is turned off, the standby mode is reset.

The next step is to check the video card. You can do this using special programs. They show all adapter malfunctions. This may be a lack of power or overheating of the video card. However, most often the problem arises due to incorrectly installed graphics drivers. In this case, they must be removed and reinstalled by downloading from the official website of the manufacturer of the video card. It is also advisable to update all available drivers using special official programs.

If you did not find any problems while checking the video card, then you need to check the BIOS.

To do this, you must enter it using a special key combination. You need to look for the Advanced tab and in it the item Power Off Energy Saving. If this item is turned off, it must be turned on and, if possible, set a balanced power mode. Also, the fact that the monitor does not turn on can be affected by outdated BIOS firmware. In this case, it is necessary to write the updated version to the external recording device and update the BIOS manually, through the "Update" item.

If hibernation is used for sleep mode, it should be turned off. To do this, run the command line strictly on behalf of the administrator. Then enter - "powercfg - h off". If you replace “off” with “on” in a command, hibernation is activated, and normal sleep mode will be turned off.

ATTENTION! In order to prevent a recurrence of the situation, it is necessary to update all the drivers on the device and turn off "Go to sleep mode" in the power settings of the system unit.

It is also desirable to put the standby mode in the form of hibernation, which has several advantages:

  • in case of a sudden power outage, all data is saved;
  • computer booting is fast enough.

When using this mode, there are no problems that may appear during the "Sleep" mode.

Why there are problems with the PC

Due to the fact that system units have a huge number of different configuration options, there are also many causes of breakdowns. This is affected by unlicensed versions of the operating system, and an uninstalled anti-virus program, as well as incorrectly working or outdated drivers, various and most often pirated software. All this in aggregate or separately leads to disruption of the system unit, including the fact that the monitor does not turn on after the "Sleep" mode.
