The principle of the monitor

The system unit is necessary for storing and processing information. The monitor allows you to visualize all the work, get information about its progress and results. Also, using it, data entry and control of processes occurring in the system unit are carried out.

To date, there are several display options. And, although CRT screens have almost sunk into the past, in some places they can still be found. Bulky monitors have been replaced by compact LCD panels. How are they structurally different?

CRT - screens

The main part of this screen is a kinescope called a cathode ray tube. It is made of a tube made of glass, inside which there is a vacuum. The screen is a flat and wide part of this tube. The narrow part is the neck. The back of the device is coated with a special substance, a phosphor. He also has an electronic gun.

This gun releases electrons that pass through a metal lattice. The back surface of the display is covered with phosphor dots of several colors. On it, passing through the disconnecting system, the rays fall behind the back of the tube.

Liquid crystal panels

Despite the fact that they learned about liquid crystal technology in the 19th century, it began to be used only in the second half of the 20th century. It was these monitors that replaced the CRT screens from the market for electrical appliances.

Here, the matrix is the most important element. It consists of:

  • Halogen filled backlight;
  • Reflective system and LEDs. They are necessary that the backlight be uniform;
  • All contacts are applied to a glass substrate. There are two substrates, one is located in front of the matrix, the second behind;
  • Liquid crystals themselves;
  • Polarizers;

Since the design of monitors is different, the image formation is carried out through different actions.

CRT screen.A special gun responds to the formation of the picture. Using an electromagnetic field, it releases a dense stream of charged particles. They pass through a metal grill and fall on the back of the tube. Charged particles fall on the phosphor, which begins to glow.

Lcd display.The principle of operation is based on the property of a light beam, called polarization. In its normal state, light is not polarized. This can be achieved using special substances that can transmit a beam of light in one plane. They are called polarizers. There are two such polarizers in the matrix and they are installed opposite each other. When one of them rotates, the polarization axis changes. So the brightness of the screen is adjusted.

The matrix is a kind of sandwich, the main parts of which are two glass panels, between which there are crystals. On the surface of the panels are recesses, they regulate the movement of crystals. The image is formed by electrodes that create an electromagnetic field. And so that it can be seen, the matrix is highlighted using diodes.

REFERENCE! Image formation is a rather difficult process from a technical point of view, and each type of screen has its own. Technologies do not stand still and devices are constantly being upgraded, in principle, imaging, including.
