Dark spots on the LCD TV screen

The TV, like any equipment, may fail or start to work incorrectly. Neither the price nor the manufacturing company affect this. Many factors can lead to defects or device failure. One of these defects are dark spots on the TV screen.

Reasons for the appearance of dark spots on the LCD TV screen

Often, spots are initially very small and almost invisible. Gradually they increase in size, significantly distort the image or cover part of the broadcast image.

The main reasons that lead to the formation of dark spots are:

  • If within a short period of time after the purchase, a dark spot appears, then this indicates a marriage that was allowed in the production.
  • Often spots occur due to external influences. The matrix of the device is very fragile and any mechanical impact affects its integrity.
  • Air. Sometimes during transportation, air enters the device, which leads to the burnout of pixels. Very often, broken pixels begin to spread throughout the screen.
  • Moisture. If improperly cleaned, if an excessively damp rag is used, moisture can enter the device body and then penetrate the matrix.
  • Temperature. The matrix does not tolerate exposure to high temperatures. If, for some time, some part of it was exposed to temperature effects, then this led to its stratification and, as a result, the appearance of a stain.

REFERENCE. If a defect was discovered after purchase, the device must be immediately returned to the store while it is under warranty!

How to fix dark spots on the screen

If the stain is caused by moisture, rinse the matrix. To do this, you need to take a special detergent.

REFERENCE. Normal running water is not suitable for flushing the matrix. It contains small abrasive particles of various impurities that will remain on the matrix layers and will be visible in the future.

The room where the matrix will be cleaned should be with good ventilation. So you can avoid subsidence were in its parts. In this case, it is advisable to additionally use a humidifier. All work must be done with soft gloves.

If the matter is in the matrix itself, then its replacement is required. The most faithful and reliable option is to contact a specialized workshop with a professional.

But if the user has good enough skills in the repair of electrical products and all the necessary tools and materials for this, the replacement of the defective part can be done independently.

To do this, you must:

  • Prepare the workplace and all the necessary tools for the job.
  • Disconnect the device.
  • Using a suitable screwdriver, remove all bolts and then dismantle the housing.
  • Carefully disconnect the wiring and cables.
  • Remove bolts and remove defective part.
  • Put a new matrix and perform all actions in reverse order.

IMPORTANT. If the warranty period has not yet expired, it is forbidden to engage in independent repair work!

In any case, the cost of a new part is almost equal to the cost of the TV itself. Therefore, it would be more advisable to purchase a new device.
