Slow Cooker Modes

Treasure time and eat dry food, although you prefer to eat tasty food? When do you come home from work to heat food? Spend part of your life cooking every day, although you don’t like to do this? A slow cooker will help solve these problems. When choosing a slow cooker, remember that they vary in power from 750 to 1000 watts, in volumes of 1.5 - 9 liters, in a bowl coated with Teflon or ceramic, as well as a set of options that help in the cooking process.

A slow cooker is a complex electronic device that, in accordance with a cooking recipe, controls the operation of:

  • heating element, maintaining the set temperature;
  • the working valve regulating steam pressure in a bowl.

The slow cooker is programmed for 8 to 40 cooking programs.

ATTENTION!Manufacturers give a different name to the same processes. Therefore, do not worry if some program is missing. In the budget version, the main modes can have the names: “Heating”, “Pilaf”, “Soup”, “Baking”, “Buckwheat”, “Stewing”, “Steaming”, “Milk porridge”, “Delayed cooking”. The names speak for themselves.

If the slow cooker has a small number of programs, do not be disappointed! This difficulty is easily resolved if you know that the whole variety of modes is based on one of five processes:

  1. Cooking. Cover closed, service valve open. Temperature 180 degrees. Pasta, potatoes, soups, dumplings are prepared in liquid under pressure. There may be auxiliary modes that differ in pressure in the bowl: "buckwheat", which allows you to cook various cereals from buckwheat, pearl barley and rice cereal, "milk porridge" is used for semolina, barley, rice, oat milk porridge, "pilaf". With the function of additional frying, the mode is intended for cooking meat, fried potatoes and pilaf.
  2. Steaming. The cover is closed, the valve is open. Temperature 115-120 degrees. When equipped with a special container, it is used as a double boiler for the delicate preparation of low-calorie diet foods in accordance with the basics of a healthy diet. You can cook meat, fish, vegetables, various side dishes. The mode is convenient for heating food.
  3. Frying. The lid is open. Temperature 100-160 degrees. Meat, mushrooms, potatoes, side dishes are fried with the addition of oil. It is used for frying foods for first courses. If the bowl has a Teflon coating, there is no need to add oil. But without oil, the taste of the dish can change.
  4. Quenching. The cover is closed, the valve is closed. Temperature 90-140 degrees. Thanks to pressure cooking at a low temperature, all the beneficial properties of the products are preserved. Suitable for making soup, jellied meat, vegetables, fish and meat dishes, cereals, cabbage rolls.
  5. Bakery products. Temperature 118-122 degrees. Works like an oven. It allows you to fry food, bake meat, oven, pies, biscuits, muffins, rolls and bread.

Manual operation programs

Depending on the programs, the cooking process is usually automatic. If any dish is not in the list, the Do It Yourself (DIY) function will help. The multi-cook provides the opportunity to cook any, even unique dishes, not only for professional chefs, but also for those who are used to home recipes and do not want to refuse them.

This function allows you to change:

  • manual pressure control settings;
  • temperature within 25-180 degrees;
  • time intervals.

Additional multicooker modes

Manufacturers of multicookers constantly make any design changes and additions, which increases their popularity:

  1. Yogurt. The mode allows you to maintain the temperature at 35 degrees for a certain time.
  2. Smokehouse. Smoke-free products are possible.
  3. Self cleaning. The device is processed using steam, which eliminates all kinds of odors.
  4. The mode of preserving the temperature of the dish.
  5. Pasteurization mode. It is very convenient for canning products.
