How to wash green from linoleum

Once upon a time, in the days of our grandmothers, one of the most common antiseptics was greenback. It was in every house, and many remember how my grandmother smeared the abrasion or chickenpox bubbles with a bright green liquid. At present, this solution is also used, less often, but still used. But sometimes there is more harm than good from him. For example, in cases where it spills on linoleum.

What are the dangerous spots of greenbacks

For the appearance of linoleum, zelenka can be called rather dangerous. It has a bright color that quickly penetrates the ribbed surface of linoleum, and then it is difficult to wash it off.

Unlike another “ancient” antiseptic, iodine, zielonka is not a volatile substance, and is unable to weather itself after some time. For this reason, it is necessary to fight with spots of green stuff.

Another feature of this solution is that it dries quickly both on the skin and on any other surface. Thus, pollution can quickly become obsolete. And given the bright color and caustic structure of the substance, it is rather difficult to wash it, especially if it will be in contact with air for a long time. Therefore, spots from greenbacks are best removed immediately after formation.

Important! Aged stains of greens are difficult to remove, so you need to clean them immediately after they have spilled the liquid.

Simple tools to help bring out greenback

Despite all the capriciousness of this solution, you can remove it in different ways. Here, both store-bought chemicals and proven home remedies come to the rescue. It is also worth a look in the first-aid kit, and check out what is available can help cope with the stain.

Of the weak and simple means, the following can be distinguished:

  • soap solution;
  • soda with vinegar;
  • nail polish remover;
  • alcohol;
  • mixture with potassium permanganate.

Let's start checking every means.

Soap solution

The simplest remedy is powder. A soapy powder solution with bleach is able to cope with this task.

Important! This method is suitable only for fresh spots.

To cope with the stain using powder, follow the instructions.

  1. Make a concentrated solution of powder with bleach.
  2. Foam the solution.
  3. Wipe the stain with foam many times until it disappears completely.
  4. Rinse with warm water.

In general, zielonka is able to succumb to plain water with powder. If the powder contains bleach, it will only benefit. But it is worth remembering that he soap solution will help to cope with stains that have just formed. If the spot stays in the air even for a day, this method will not work anymore.

Vinegar Soda

Soda is an indispensable helper in the house. And not only in cooking. More likely, on the contrary: it more often helps to cope with various household problems than to help in cooking. So, in the case of greenback, you can turn to soda. But, before using it, you need to pay off with vinegar.

  1. Pour some soda onto the stain.
  2. Then drip with vinegar so that it extinguishes the soda right on the spot.
  3. Wait for the reaction to finish and wipe the area with a brush or rag.
  4. Rinse with warm water.
  5. If the stain is less noticeable but still visible, repeat the procedure.

Important! Before rubbing the place, make sure that the soda is completely extinguished, otherwise you can damage the linoleum.

Nail polish remover and alcohol

This is the next category of what may be at hand. The nail polish remover can discolor and completely wipe off the stain. But since it is rather weak, you will have to try and repeat the withdrawal procedure several times.

Important! The nail polish remover must contain acetone.

Work with the liquid as follows:

  1. Apply a few drops of it to the surface (make sure that it does not spread much).
  2. Wipe the area thoroughly with a brush.
  3. Blot the remaining liquid with a rag.
  4. Repeat the procedure until the stain disappears.
  5. Rinse with warm water.

For work, it is better to use a brush, as it will better help to penetrate the substance into the linoleum and remove the brilliant green.

The scheme described above is valid for alcohol-containing substances. Also, they, like nail polish remover, can be replaced with acetone. But be careful: acetone is a chemical and by nature a more powerful tool. If used improperly, you can damage the skin of the hands or the floor.

Proven solution to remove greens

We offer a proven tool that is simple in nature, as it consists of the funds available in each apartment. But at the same time, it can be called rather complicated, because you have to prepare solutions yourself, as well as spend time on two stages of the manipulation.

  1. To get started, prepare a solution of potassium permanganate with vinegar. For 100 ml of vinegar, potassium permanganate is taken at the tip of the knife.
  2. Then prepare another solution: vinegar + hydrogen peroxide. For 100 ml of vinegar, 30 ml of peroxide is taken.
  3. Take the first solution and apply it to the stain, wiping the surface with a brush. As a result, it should acquire a dark brown color.
  4. Wipe the area with clean water.
  5. Now take a second solution and wipe the stain until completely discolored. Then also wipe with clean water.

Caution! Make sure that the products do not leave a whitish stain in the place of the green.

If, nevertheless, the spot turns a bit white and stands out against the general background, add a little hydrogen peroxide to the water and wash the floor with this water. For linoleum, it is harmless. It will only become a little brighter, and the whitish spot as a result will not stand out much.
