How to scan an x-ray on a conventional scanner

Sometimes it is required to scan an X-ray. For example, for a remote consultation with a doctor or for the preparation of medical documents. Such images will be easily sent to a medical institution for remote diagnosis, or post them on a medical forum.

The best solution would be to contact centers that specialize in the provision of specialized services. However, prices for it may "bite", and such centers in your city may simply not be. Then the only solution is to do everything yourself.

Instructions for scanning X-ray on a conventional scanner

  1. First you need to clean the glass device using special wipes for office equipment. This should be done very carefully, so that in the final photo there are no extraneous points and spots that make it difficult to read.
  2. Place the snapshot into the device. Do not close the lid.
  3. Provide the most bright illumination in the room.
  4. Go to the settings (on the computer or the device itself). Set the extension value to the maximum (600 and higher).

If the manipulations produced did not bring the desired result, try another method:

  1. Place the picture on the glass and cover with the top of polyethylene. A single layer will suffice.
  2. Polyethylene should not be drawings, and its density should be average.
  3. At a distance of one meter above the device, install the lamp.
  4. Scan also at the highest resolution possible.

Which scanners are best for the process?

Conventional scanners will not do here. The picture will be lit and the doctor will not be able to read it. For such an operation suitable scanners:

  1. Included are a special prefix for digitizing negatives. The devices are equipped with a second lamp that shines through the picture. Such scanners have a special mode feature.
  2. Devices in which you can turn off the internal lamp. In this case, scanning is performed with the lid open, and the backlight comes from an ordinary lamp at a distance of about a meter.
  3. Having an increased sensitivity to light.

Most modern medical centers give their clients a digital copy along with X-ray. If, for some reason, you do not have such a copy, you can try to make it yourself.
