A laser printer is one of the most commonly used designs in a modern office. However, not many people thought about what it consists of, as well as how the printing process occurs and whereby. We will talk about this later.

A laser printer is one of the devices that allow you to quickly print text or graphic images on plain paper. It consists of a printing mechanism and supplies.

The printing mechanism includes:

  • drum unit - a means necessary to transfer an image to paper;
  • laser unit - the device responsible for printing;
  • Korotron - a charge roller that sends a signal to the laser unit and allows you to print an image;
  • portable tape - the device responsible for the intermediate image acquisition;
  • development unit - a device that is needed to transfer toner to an image in a drum.

Important! The drum unit consists of a drum, a doctor blade, and a mining hopper. Of the consumables in the printer, toner with a carrier and a developer is used. They are a kind of colored dye powders for holding images on paper and transferring ink to the drum technology.

What does a cartridge consist of?

The cartridge is a removable ink container and is used in any printer as a means of printing. Such a device in the laser form of a printer is a device that consists of toner with a compartment. As a rule, it contains 4-5 compartments with coloring elements. It contains a drum with a primary charged shaft, a cleaning blade and a sealing view of a drum blade. In the compartment there is a magnetic-type shaft with a tinting dosing blade, a magnetic felling blade, a toner hopper and a sealing type of checks.

How color and black and white printing is done

The process of black-and-white printing in a laser printer is a delicate and complex physical and chemical process. In short, it includes the implementation of 5 steps:

  • recharging the photocell - receiving an equivalent electric charge and distributing it to the photodrum, which transfers the paint to the canvas;
  • laser scan or exposure - the process of passing the photocell under the laser;
  • applying toner that comes in contact with the illuminated photocell to combine a negative charge with a positive one;
  • transferring the toner to the paper using the appropriate roller (a negative charge of the toner collides with a positive one on the paper and contacts, in contact with its particles and held on it according to the law of electrostatics);
  • fusing the toner by heating with pressure - the paper moves to the fusing unit (stove) and the image is fixed on it.

A color image is obtained according to the following principle:

First, the rendering engine takes the document and processes it a couple of times in digital form, creating a raster frame on it, arranged in the colors of the toners, and then the laser distributes the charges on the rotating drum, reporting the scan and transmitting signals to the toners. The charged particles are attracted to the drum, and he, in turn, to the paper. Thus, coloring pigments, resins and polymers are attached to the paper.

In general, the device of a laser printer is simple: it consists of printing mechanisms and consumables, which include, among other things, a cartridge. This includes toner with a compartment. Through joint efforts, the cartridge with the printer carry out color or black and white printing on plain office paper.
