Easy replacement of ironing board

Whatever expensive and sophisticated clothes you have in your wardrobe, it should be gently ironed. It would seem that there may be difficulties with this, if the iron can be purchased at almost any supermarket at a low price.

But in order to qualitatively and safely make clothes look well-groomed, there is little iron. The main role is played by the surface on which it is ironed. For this there is a special device, ironing board.

Here it is already much more expensive than an iron, and you can buy it not everywhere. And sometimes, it just suddenly fails. So what to do if there is no ironing board at hand and there is no place to buy it, but there is an unnecessary plywood?

There is a way, we will create the board ourselves.

From these simple components we will create an analogue. Easy and affordable to use anywhere.

We will need:

  • Screwdriver;
  • Pencil;
  • A piece of plywood;
  • Ruler;
  • Batting;
  • Scissors;
  • The cloth;
  • Furniture stapler;
  • Screws. (4 pieces).

IMPORTANT: The fabric must be resistant to both wear and temperature.

We make a smaller version, according to a fairly simple technology. Any woman will cope with this task independently.

  1. With a pencil, we mark the places where our legs will be located.
  2. With the help of a screwdriver, we screw in the screws, leaving some of them “free”. These will be the legs of our mini-board.
  3. We put batting on plywood, add 3 centimeters to each edge and cut it off.
  4. We also act with a cloth, only on each edge we add 5 centimeters.
  5. We lay the fabric.
  6. We arrange the wadding so that the matter remains free edges.
  7. Now we finish it with plywood (legs up).
  8. With a sharp but gentle movement we raise the fabric and, bending it over on plywood, we shoot through the stapler. Thus, we fasten the allowances on the fabric around the perimeter of the plywood.

If there is no stapler at hand, it can be replaced with a strong glue instant glue.

IMPORTANT: The surface of our ironing board should be perfectly flat. To achieve this effect, when fixing the fabric on the reverse side, lightly press the plywood surface.

Our design will be minimal in weight: comfortable on the road, in the country. Mobility and ease of manufacture are, perhaps, the main points that distinguish our homemade ironing board from expensive, heavy and large-sized production analogues.

But you can spend a little more time on the process and sew the case. To do this, also lay the fabric on it batting. We wad off the batting around the perimeter with threads, after which we fix the hand stitch on the sewing machine. The rest of the fabric fold in half and also sew. We put inside the fabric seam gum.

Now we have a removable cover. It gives universality to our ironing board, since it can be removed and put on any other flat, suitable surface.

But most importantly, practicality. In case of pollution, we can wash it and continue to use it in the future.

In such an uncomplicated way, with accessible materials and with minimal financial costs, we got a much needed fixture that is useful to have on hand.
