How to store contact lenses

Contact lenses can solve many problems associated with poor vision. They allow you to feel comfortable and get rid of glasses. You need to understand that contact lenses have direct contact with the eye, which means that careless handling of the lenses can cause serious vision problems, contributing to its further deterioration. Therefore, you must be able to properly care for the lenses and know where to store them.

Storage instruction

  • The lenses are stored in a container, which is two round containers connected together. Each container should be filled with a disinfectant solution in order to prevent the growth of dangerous bacteria. The solution should be changed every few days. Any lens storage container has an expiration date. It is important to change the capacity in a timely manner every 6-9 months, and sometimes more often.
  • Now that we have figured out where to store the lenses, let's figure out how to care for them. To clean the lens from various impurities is ONLY tested solutions. They should be bought at the pharmacy. Usually, when buying lenses, you can also get a solution for cleaning them. Using mediocre solutions can ruin not only the lenses, but also your eyesight.
  • Now let's move on to practice: to clean the lens, remove it and put it on an open palm. Pour a little solution on and under the lens. Now gently wipe the lens with your index finger. After that, place the lens in the container, after changing the solution in it, if necessary.

Attention! Never store contact lenses in plain tap water! It is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria.

Storage temperature

At what temperature is it best to store contact lenses?

It is very important to store the lenses at room temperature. Contact between lenses and direct sunlight should be avoided, especially in summer. Thus, the ideal temperature for storing lenses is 15-35 degrees.

Lenses and refrigerator

After reading here, a very reasonable question may arise: "But do not store the lenses in the refrigerator, because the cold environment interferes with the spread of bacteria?" No, not worth it. There is no benefit from this, the main thing is to follow the rules for storing the lenses that you read about earlier. In some cases, the refrigerator may even ruin the lens due to the crystallization of water in them.

Using contact lenses

Of course, contact lenses allow you to see the world in a new light, but, unfortunately, you can not use them everywhere.

Lenses and bathing

Water and lenses are definitely not friends. Avoid contact with water on the lens. Although pure water can not do much harm to the lenses, it can easily wash them off. You can go to the pool with lenses, but it is not recommended. Pool water is treated with various disinfectants and chlorine, which can damage the lenses.

Nevertheless, swimming in a pool is less harmful to lenses than swimming in the sea or in various fresh water bodies.

Rivers, and especially lakes, are a stronghold for bacteria that can harm the lens and your eyesight. You can’t swim in rivers and lakes - you can "earn" serious diseases, for example, ring infiltration.

It is also not recommended to bathe in the sea at sea: salt water can damage the lens. The danger can be reduced if you use swimming goggles that will fit snugly to your eyes without letting in water.

Note. When swimming in pools, disposable lenses are more suitable. When using conventional lenses, there is a risk of damage.

Lenses in the bath

The bath always maintains a high ambient temperature. As we already know, the lens contains a large amount of water. In the bath, it simply evaporates. This will lead to loss of lens properties and make it unsuitable for further use. So, you can’t wash in the bath in the lenses. It happens that people forget about the harm that a bathhouse can do to lenses. There is a way to try to save them: you need to dip the lenses in a disinfecting solution, and wait a few hours. If the lens absorbs liquid, then it turned out to be saved, but if with further use of the lens burning and discomfort are felt, then it is damaged and its further use is prohibited.

Lenses in the cold

In cold weather when the temperature drops to -- 20 degrees, you can use lenses. There is no harm to them, because they constantly warm from the eye, whose temperature is always high, about 35 degrees. Serious changes in the structure of the lens can begin only in severe frosts, when the temperature drops to around -- 50 centigrade. But such temperatures can only be found in the Far North, where the temperature drops to -60. So, you can wear lenses in the cold, most importantly, that the lenses themselves are worn and not cooled.

Conclusion

Lenses are a wonderful invention of mankind - they allow you to look stylish, beautiful and forget about glasses. You just need to adhere to simple rules that will preserve both your lenses and vision.
