Parquet board has a wide range of shades, it can be of various designs. Various ways of laying it. These nuances determine the choice of a specific coating for finishing the floor of a room.

Living room

The living room should be spacious, bright. The style of its design should be complete. Parquet board for the floor in the living room is an aesthetically pleasing and practical option. Natural material is non-toxic, has no pungent odor, and is also durable and durable. Parquet in the living room will look expensive and prestigious. A variety of colors and styling allows you to create a unique design.

For a small living room, choose light shades of parquet, for a spacious one - darker options. In the living room, most often parquet is laid out with a Christmas tree or some kind of artistic pattern.

Types and arrangement of material

Types of material:

  1. Piece parquet - represents boards 20-50 cm long, 4-7 cm wide, 1-2 cm thick. They are interconnected by grooves located on the sides of each board. When laying piece parquet requires the painstaking work of a specialist.
  2. Modular is a block consisting of modules (puzzles). Each puzzle has a different size, shape and wood pattern.
  3. Artistic - is a panel of different colors and sizes. The drawing is obtained depending on the method of laying the panels and their combination (border, socket, art drawing).
  4. Parquet board - consists of three layers glued together:
  • top layer (4 mm) - made of natural wood, treated with varnish or oil coating, which protects the surface from various kinds of damage, has an attractive appearance;
  • middle layer (9 mm) - consists of battens interlocked by a lock connection, made of hardwood or coniferous wood;
  • the bottom layer (1.5 mm) - is the base of the parquet board, laid out with slats interlocked with each other.

IMPORTANT! All layers overlap perpendicular to each other.

Parquet board is divided into categories according to the number of strips:

  1. Single-lane - one-piece board with a pattern of fibers and knots. It is convenient and quick to stack. Well suited for large areas.
  2. Two-way - has a raised surface. Consists of two boards.
  3. Three-way - consists of three strips in the form of modular segments, which are made of different wood. It looks like piece parquet on the floor.
  4. Four-lane - made from wood waste. Consists of four narrow stripes. As a result, such parquet looks variegated.

Parquet laying options

There are several ways to lay a parquet board:

  1. Dry - boards are fastened together by a castle connection, like puzzles. However, they are not attached to the base with glue. The benefits are that if you make a mistake, it’s easy to eliminate. In the future, it is not difficult to dismantle several planks. This method is resistant to changes in temperature and humidity.
  2. Glue - boards are glued to the base. Use for laying in large rooms.
  3. Longitudinal - boards are laid from wall to wall.
  4. Diagonal - boards begin to stack from the corner. This method is more time consuming. There are many scraps left. But it looks more presentable than longitudinal.
  5. Deck - boards are stacked one after another.

IMPORTANT! When laying between the wall and the parquet board, it is necessary to leave a few millimeters, since the coating may swell slightly.

Parquet board can be laid out in a different pattern:

  • Christmas tree (visually it looks that the boards are of different textures);
  • checkers (square modules alternate according to the figure);
  • braid (visually looks like a weave of boards);
  • rhombs (stacked at an angle of 45 degrees, a 3d effect is created).

IMPORTANT! Drawings can be combined with each other or come up with your own unique ornament.

Using parquet for wall decoration

Parquet on the wall will be a highlight in your interior. In this way, only one wall in a room or a certain area is allocated.

Any breed of wood is suitable for the wall, since this surface is not subject to mechanical stress, like the floor. There are parquet boards for wall decoration on sale. They have a more complex relief or 3D effect.

ATTENTION! For a glossy effect, the wall is varnished, for a matte - oil.
