Printer malfunctions for decommissioning

The printer is becoming more and more popular. Use it at home and in offices. And in office work without a printing device is often not enough. This inevitably causes the printer to fail over time. There can be many reasons. Some breakdowns can be eliminated - on their own or by contacting specialists for help. When certain defects appear, the product can no longer be repaired.

There are several types of printing devices: matrix, laser and inkjet. Each of them has its own malfunctions, which lead to a complete failure of the product and its further decommissioning.

Dot Matrix Printer Problems

The main malfunctions of the matrix-type printing device include:

  1. The difficult process of passing paper sheets. This malfunction leads to: the use of paper that is not intended for this particular model of the printing device, the failure of mechanical parts, or the ingress of foreign objects.
  2. Failure of the head, which is responsible for printing. The most common cause of this malfunction is a breakdown in the mechanical elements that drive the head. Such a breakdown occurs with prolonged use of the device.
  3. A problem with the integrity or flexibility of the print head ribbon cable. The occurrence of these types of malfunctions leads to prolonged mechanical stress.
  4. Failure of the unit that is responsible for cleaning the print head. With the active use of the printer, frequent cartridge changes, as well as intensive head cleaning, the coloring pigment begins to accumulate on the head of the device, which causes it to break.
  5. Cartridge wear. It is very often caused by the fact that the used ink is not suitable for this model of product. Possible reasons may include: a long interruption in operation or improper cleaning of the cartridges.

Inkjet printer breakdown

Decommissioned inkjet printer malfunctions:

  1. Cartridge failure. The reasons may be: the use of inappropriate or low-quality coloring pigment, a long interruption in operation, improper operation of the carriage, or incorrectly performed cleaning or refilling of the print head.
  2. Malfunction of the path through which the paper passes. The reasons are the same as in the case of the matrix version.
  3. Damage to the print head cleaning assembly. The problem arises for the same reasons as when using a dot matrix printer.

Laser printer malfunctions

The laser printer is subject to decommissioning for the following types of breakdowns:

  1. The failure of the node responsible for fixing the text or image. The reasons may be: damage or rupture of thermal paper, malfunction of the heating mechanism or control unit.
  2. Problems with the node that is responsible for transferring text to paper. Mechanical damage to a print or laser head results in failure.

REFERENCE! For all models, common are malfunctions resulting from severe contamination with coloring pigment and dust. To avoid their occurrence, periodic cleaning of mechanical parts is required.

All electrical products that are out of order must be disposed of correctly. If this is not done, then the environment, as well as human health, is significantly damaged. This is due to the following reasons:

  1. The cartridges used for printing contain aluminum oxide and iron. These substances have a negative impact on the environment.
  2. As part of the coloring pigment, cyanide is present in a small amount. This chemical substance, when exposed to the human body, leads to various diseases of the upper respiratory tract.
  3. In all electronic elements of the device there are various compounds of chemicals and metal alloys. Over time, they begin to secrete toxic substances.
  4. The printer case is made with the addition of polystyrene. When heated, it begins to secrete an extremely dangerous substance - styrene. Styrene has a negative effect on the circulatory and central nervous system of a living organism.

Despite the fact that there may be several reasons for writing off a faulty printing device, the writing procedure itself will be the same in any case. It is performed as follows:

  1. Office equipment is on the balance sheet of the organization, so it must be deregistered by the tax office.
  2. Next, a special commission is created. It draws up the necessary acts, which indicate the causes of the breakdown. It is mandatory to attach to the act: extract from the register book, passport, conclusions on the failure of the product.
  3. The next step is to dismantle the printing device, which is subject to decommissioning. This is necessary in order to remove precious metals. This procedure can be carried out independently, or you can contact a professional workshop. All items that remain after parsing should be taken to the territory of a specialized company engaged in further disposal.
  4. The final stage is drawing up a conclusion on cancellation. A full package of necessary documents should be attached to it: acts on the removal of precious metals, on the disposal of all electronic and hazardous parts, an act from the commission that the device was found to be defective and subject to write-off.

Even if you use the printer correctly, take care of it and carry out the necessary repairs on time, office equipment will someday fail because it has its own life. The subsequent decommissioning and disposal procedure must be approached extremely responsibly. To do everything right, it is advisable to contact specialized companies. They guarantee high-quality performance of work, and also provide all the necessary package of documents.
