The better to mop the floor

It would seem, what could be easier than washing the floor? I took an old T-shirt, wetted it, ran it on the floor and rejoice at life. But you’re not happy for long: the villi are stuck there, the dust has not been washed, some stains have remained or the linoleum is swollen ... Let's approach this issue wisely.

General rules for washing floors

There are sanitary and hygienic norms, which state that the optimal frequency of floor washing for a family living in an average-sized apartment is 2–3 times a week. And no, this is not a Saturday, Sunday or another day of the week, as is often the case, it is better to distribute the "load" evenly and it is desirable to free the weekend.

Reference! Two good examples of schedules: Monday-Wednesday-Friday for a family with animals and / or children, or Tuesday-Friday for a family without them.

Householders, for whom the cleanliness of the apartment is 24/7, can apply these charts to less walk-through rooms (living room, children’s room, bedroom), and more walk-throughs (entrance hall, kitchen, bathroom, toilet) to wash daily.

So, the schedule was made, now it's time to outline a plan of action:

  1. Anything that moves and retracts easily — moves and retracts, preferably into another room. Many do it during cleaning, spending extra energy on switching tasks, and some do not, and the floor seems to be clean, and dusty around the legs of the chair. And during the general cleaning in the course goes and heavy artillery: moving sofas, beds, cabinets, etc.
  2. If you did not sweep yesterday - sweep today. This is again a question about switching tasks: it is better to walk with a broom / vacuum cleaner, and then with a rag, than to constantly run and shake crumbs or hairs from a rag.
  3. Pour water and mortar into the bucket that is suitable for your flooring. If you do not want to get your hands dirty or are afraid of allergies - make friends with rubber gloves. If you use a mop - it's time to attach a rag to it.
  4. About the direction of movement. There are two options: the first - from the corners of the room to the center, the second - from the wall opposite the exit, in fact, to the exit. Choose the one that suits you best.

Attention! Do not forget to wash the cloth every two or three square meters!

And further:

  • if foam remains from the solution - walk with a rag dipped in plain water;
  • if you wash linoleum, soft wood floor or parquet (whether it is varnished or not), be sure to wipe it after washing with a dry cloth - otherwise ugly bubbles (on linoleum) may form, the wood will start to rot or the boards may move relative to each other, from - for what the floor will become uneven.

Since we started talking about this, we’ll dwell on the last paragraph and analyze each floor separately.

The hardwood floor, such as larch or oak, can be washed like anything, if it is made of fir, pine or ash, then, as I said, it is enough to wipe it dry after washing, and it will not require any other troubles.

Laminate normally "perceives" wet cleaning, but it is bad for wet. Be sure to carefully squeeze the cloth when washing and make sure that there are no puddles left.

The parquet has such an interesting property: in 5-7 years after laying it all becomes uneasy, but at first do not forget about dry wiping after wet cleaning.

Linoleum - wipe dry, then there will be no bubbles.

Wash ceramics and porcelain as you like! As a rule, ceramics are installed in rooms with high humidity, to which she is accustomed, so the only thing to watch out for is that there should be no divorce from detergents.

Bulk floor. Regarding humidity and solutions, there are no restrictions on them, but there are nuances with rags - it is better to use soft ones and not scrub the dirt with a brush, as scratches may remain.

Now turn to the means for washing. With ready store chemical liquids and gels, everything is simple: read the recommendations on the packaging and follow them. Many use traditional methods, the most popular of which are solutions with vinegar or laundry soap. I have nothing against them, the main thing - do not forget to protect your hands from irritation with gloves in the first case, and to wipe the floor after washing with plain water in the second to avoid divorce.

Well, there was only inventory.

Of all non-cumulative inventory, this one is the most suitable. The towel has a convenient form (unlike, for example, from clothes), it absorbs water well, not too hard when pressed and quite soft for any coating. They can wash the floor by hand or wrap on a mop.

If you went to the store for rags, stop your choice on the following materials:

  • cotton - well absorbs water, does not stretch over time and wears out very slowly;
  • viscose is very durable and leaves no lint, but not suitable for heavy pollution;
  • acrylic - poorly absorbs water, so it is best suited for dry cleaning;
  • polyamide - dries quickly, does not rot with time and perfectly cleans strong dirt;
  • Microfiber is universal, perfectly absorbs water, while after pressing it becomes almost dry at once.

I hope my recommendations will help your floor to always remain clean and shining!
